All Bachelor of Nursing Science Students are required to take core courses which will provide knowledge in basic Nursing Philosophy and Practice. Students will also take elective courses in Law, Sociology and Psychology.

As part of the academic Bachelor’s Degree programme, each Candidate will be required to go on community and hospital postings in their 3rd and 4th Year respectively for 8 weeks each semester. The Students will have designated Clinical Preceptors for this purpose, they will be expected to have a seminar whereby they will share the experience they had throughout the period.

Duration

The programme is a 4-year course for students that enter the programme through direct entry and begin from 200 level.

BNSc NURSING SCIENCE Admission Requirements

Direct Entry

• Registered Nurse Certificate (with Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria)
• 5 O’Level credits including Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings.

Successful applicants are required to present their annual license at the point of screening, and those who haven’t renewed their license have to show evidence of payment for the renewal when coming for screening. ABU will also require applicants to pay 5,000 for verification of their license with the nursing association.

Direct Entry

• Satisfy the O’Level requirements and have 2 A’Level passes at the IJMB Examination or Cambridge Moderated Schools or Basic Studies Terminal Examination.
• Satisfy O’Level requirements and have an A.B.U. Diploma with Merit or Lower Credit in Insurance, Accounting or Banking and Finance.

Economics is a social science concerned with how societies deal with scarcity. UTME Candidates

Candidate must have five (5) O/Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects.
JAMB: Use of English, Economics, Mathematics and any Management or Social Science subject.

Direct Entry

1) Candidates are expected to have a minimum of five (5) O/Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant subjects.
2) At least two (2) A/Level passes in Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Statistics, Government and Geography are required.
3) In addition, a Diploma in Accounting, Banking or Insurance with a minimum of Merit Pass from Ahmadu Bello University is acceptable.
