The vice-chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, professor Kabir Bala has granted permission for ABU students to pick up their properties from their various halls.

The approval was necessitated by the Frequent requests by ABU Students to pick their properties from their respective rooms in the hostels.

Sequel to the directive by the federal government and the national universities commission directing universities in the country to close doors immediately in an attempt to manage the COVID19 outbreak, the university was closed down on 23rd March, 2020.

The closer was initially for a period of one month. Most of the students left their belongings in their various hostel rooms which include clothes, books, food items, and other perishable stuff.

With the continuous rise in the cases of the deadly virus, the persistent ASUU strike, and the indefinite Extention of the closing of all schools, students are becoming increasingly worried that their belongings especially books and clothes may be lost to rodents and rats.

According to the statement, Students who wish to pick their properties from their respective Rooms should be allowed to do so through the Guidelines below:-

  • Apply to the Hall Administrator attaching a Photocopy of ID Card or Admission Letter.
  • Record the Items taken by Each Student.
  • Only Legal Occupants should be Allowed.
  • Must be Escorted to the Room by a Security Personnel.
  • Observation of COVID-19 Preventive Protocol.
