Abusite Corper Donates 12 WheelChairs to Physically Challenged Students

An Abusite Corps Member Abdulazeez Umuhani Onono KB/19B/0065 has donated twelve wheelchairs to some students of the School of Special Needs in Birni-Kebbi, Kebbi State.

The donor, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and an indigene of Kogi State said she decided to embark on the project by impacting on the lives of the physically challenged students of the school with mobility challenges.

Abdulazeez, who is a strong advocate for equal child right said she had visited the school before and noticed the poor state of some facilities as well as some physically challenged students finding it difficult to move around.

She said she decided to embark on the personal community development service project by providing the twelve wheelchairs for some physically challenged students so as to enable easy movement in the pursuit of their educational activities.

The handing over ceremony which was done low-key due to the COVID-19 safety protocols was witnessed by the NYSC Kebbi State Coordinator, Mr. Mutapha Muhammad, who was represented by the Head of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Garba Fana.

In his address, the Coordinator noted that what Corps Member Onono did would go a long way to improve the living conditions of the students.

The Permanent Secretary, Kebbi State Government House, Alhaji Mustapha Aliyu Gwandu, also described the donation as important gifts to the disadvantaged students. He however appealed to other Corps Members and public-spirited Nigerians to emulate such gesture and be ready to assist the needy.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kebbi State, Mr. Ebenezer Abayomi Asaniyan, commended the Corps Member for the donation and urged the State Government to reward philanthropic Corps Members with automatic employment in its public service

The Principal of the School for Special Needs, Birnin Kebbi, Alhaji Umar Aliyu Jantulu, represented by his Vice, Hajia Aishatu Jamila Ahmed, eulogized the Corps Member for the donation, stressing that her name would remain evergreen in the history of the school.

Corps Member Abdulazeez used the forum to express her gratitude to the sponsors that made her project a reality.
