Today 24 January 2020 is the International Day of Education. A day proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly to honor education and its centrality to human well-being and sustainable development. It was celebrated globally with the theme “Learning for people, planet, prosperity, and peace”.
To mark this special day, the members of Junior Cambers International, JCIN ABU Zaria chapter led by the staff adviser- Dr. Abdul Hamidu Abdullahi visited Knowledge is Power School Samaru to donated textbooks and other learning materials to the pupils and students.
The pupils were given learning materials which include exercise books, biros, pencils, cleaners, etc as well as a talk on the relevance of education, especially to the girl child. The successful Project which was organized by Junior chamber international Nigeria, JCIN ABU Zaria chapter was tagged One Child One Book.
As Quality Education is important, Even under Sustainable Development Goals, JCIN ABU Zaria looks out for problems facing the nursery and primary schools in their community and we give out sustainable solutions to it.
The One Child One Book Project is focused on giving out free Exercise Books and Stationeries to students in nursery, primary & secondary school, Samaru.
At the end of the event, the pupils, students, and management of the school were very excited. The Director & Headmaster appreciate the organization for taking the move and promised that the books and other materials will be judiciously utilized
On his part, Aminu Bundu, the 2020 Local Organization President, JCIN ABU Zaria appreciates all those who contributed to the success of the event. He specifically thank Dr. Hamidu A. Abdullahi of the Dept of Local Govt and Development Studies, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, the Board of directors, and all the members.
