ASUU Begins Indefinite strike Amid Coronavirus Outbreak
Amid Coronavirus Outbreak, Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has embarked on indefinite strike action. The announcement was made by the President of Association, Professor Abiodun Ogunyemi in Abuja, on Monday.
He explained that the action became necessary following the Federal Government’s refusal to address issues raised in its 2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as well as its objection to joining the Integrated Pay Roll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS)
The industrial action takes effect today, March 23rd.

Although this may not be a smart move coming from ASUU in a time when people are encouraged to abstain from social gatherings. However it would be an opportunity for them to press their demand without technically being the reason for the drag in academic activities.
Earlier in the week, pundits had speculated that ASUU would call off the strike following series of auspicious meetings with the Federal Government. Such speculations seems to have turn out null and void considering the contents of the memo.
