The minister of state for science and technology, Mohammed Abdullahi, has directed the Director-General, National office for technology acquisition and promotions (NOTAP) to process the patent rights for all inventions of Usman Dalhatu to protect his intellectual property rights.
The minister equally directed the National Agency for science and engineering infrastructure NASENI to collaborate with Usman to improve on all his Inventions in other to make it globally competitive for export in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision for Sustainability.
The minister gave the directives today in Abuja when he hosted Usman Dalhatu, the young ABU Inventor who invented a ventilator and Street/Walkway Sweeper in his office.
The meeting gave the 20yrs old Usman Dalhatu who is a 200-level student of Mechanical Engineering at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, the opportunity to practically showcase his inventions to the minister and other heads of science and technology agencies in the country.
The minister who was highly impressed also directed the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of Federal Institute of Industrial Research FIIRO to look at the possibility of commercialization of the product.
Bar Mohammed Abdullahi encouraged the young inventor to continue setting the pace and promised to not only guide him but also provide him with all the needed support to succeed.
The minister that, “on the directives of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the Chairman of Presidential Standing Committee on Inventions & Innovations (PSCII) of the Nigerian Government, we are taking inventories of all these initiatives and inventions to ramp up the support to develop indigenous tech and innovations.”
