ABU Vice-Chancellor appoints 4 key officers, reappoints 8 others

The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria, Prof. Kabiru Bala, has appointed a new Coordinator for Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) for an initial period of two years.

The new appointee is Prof. Rabiu Nasiru, who teaches at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Physical Sciences.

The Vice-Chancellor also approved the appointment of Prof. Wilson O. Hamman as Acting Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. Prof. Hamman is from the Department of Human Anatomy.

According to a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of the University, Dr. Gana Emmanuel Tsadu of the Department of Theatre and Performing Arts was also appointed as Assistant Director, Affiliations, Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring.

Others appointed include Dr. Bako Ibrahim Gaya of the Department of Human Physiology as Deputy Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences.

Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor approved the reappointment of several key officers in the University. They include Prof. Bello Mukhtar as Deputy Director, Quality Assurance, Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring; Dr. Umar Farouq Yaya, Managing Director, Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services (ABUCONS) Limited; Dr. Mansir Dodo, Director, Building Projects, ABUCONS; Prof. Aishatu A. Mukhtar, Assistant Director, Extension, Monitoring and Evaluation, Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR); and Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad, Director, Public Procurement Research Centre.

Others include Dr. Auwal Kasim, Director, Engineering Services, ABUCONS; Dr. Mu’awiya Abubakar, Head, Public Private Partnership Unit; Dr. Salisu Bala, Deputy Director, Arewa House; and Prof. (Mrs.) M.A. Suleiman, Assistant Dean (Female), Student Affairs Division, Main Campus.

All the reappointments are for a final term of two years.

Professor Bala clarified that both the fresh appointments and reappointments were on account of their administrative and academic leadership qualities as well as performance.

While urging them to always be honest and fair in all their official dealings, the Vice-Chancellor urged them to bring in their wealth of experiences to bear in the service of the University.

It would be recalled that the Vice-Chancellor made similar fresh appointments and reappointments for Faculties, Institutes, and Centres early this year.
