The place called “SEA NEVER DRY” in ABU Zaria

By Alhaji Adamu Abubakar

There used to be a Classroom in ABU where throughout the day and night, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, most especially during the examination period, that is always filled with Students reading. Not only reading but reading seriously in preparation for exams, tests, and or assignments.

This classroom because it is always occupied with Students reading was named Sea never dry. Due to the duration of time when I left ABU, I cannot specifically describe the location of the place or Classroom, but if may still recall is not far away from the Prestigious Kashim Ibrahim Library.

The place called "SEA NEVER DRY" in ABU Zaria

For Students to come and enter the place or be a full member, one needs to be well prepared to read even to extend of reading till day break (TDB). I am sure we are all conversant with the slogan of TDB, meaning reading Till Day Break in order to meet up with the challenges of the June to June examination.

If for example, one goes there to read may be from the hours of 8:00 Pm to let say 2:00am, such a Student is seen as not qualified to be in that Class.

Could you believe that sometimes as one is leaving the Classroom you see Students laughing at you, an indication that one is not capable and qualified to be a reading member of that Room.

Like me, I only went there once and left before day break and never revisited till the end of my graduation in 1984.

Fellow Abusite, the essence of my submission is not to ridicule any set or Person(s) but rather to share ideas on the way and manner Students of ABU place much more time, energy and premium on their studies.

Whoever you see or meet across as a Student has a vision and a mission to accomplish as far as his or her stay in the University is concerned.

O boy come and see serious-minded and commitment Students who were out to struggle in order to make it in life academically.

The question I want to ask here is whether such a Class still exists in ABU? And if yes, is it functional?

I have the feeling beyond reasonable doubt that even if such a Class does not exist, there will be other places or Classes where students go to read seriously for their exams because one cannot go to ABU and sleep or be lazy Chap.

Like I always mentioned, I welcome any contribution, suggestions, comments and criticisms or corrections on this topic as with that it will make it more embracing.

Till then I remain yours sincerely. ABU, Zaria the difference is clear and glaring. Abi no big so my fellow Abusite.
