U15PY2014: Committee Confirms Shafa’atu Abdullahi’s ABU Certificate ‘absolutely Fake’
A high-powered committee set up by the management of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria to ascertain the issuance of an alleged fake statement of result to one Shafa’atu Abdullahi of its Department of Physics with registration number U15PY2014 has revealed its findings.
Findings by the Committee showed that the copy of the result is “absolutely fake”.
According to the committee findings, the copy of the result is “absolutely fake” because the Statement of Result in contention clearly differs from the genuine ABU Statement of Result in six different features.
Recall that the University had on 31″ December 2020 constituted a high-powered committee consisting of the University Senate members to thoroughly investigate the allegation as presented in an anonymous petition to the Vice-Chancellor on 17th December, 2020.

According to Auwalu Umar, the Director, Public Affairs Directorate of the university in a statement, stated that Sahara Reporters obtained a copy of the petition and published the allegation, “Syndicate in ABU Issuing Fake Certificates to Students” on 22nd December 2020.
The online media went further to publish another story. “ABU Management Shields Fake Certificates Syndicate, Sends False Records to NYSC”, on 27th January, 2021.
He said, “all the two stories were one-side as no attempts were made by the media to get the other side of the story from the University”.
The eight-member committee, headed by Prof. Shehu Abubakar Akuyam, Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, also found that based on the committee’s phone conversation with Shafa’atu Abdullahi, she claimed and maintained that she did not know anything about the purported Statement of Result and NYSC Mobilisation.
According to the investigation records from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Physical Sciences and Academic Affairs Department showed that Shafa’atu Abdullahi (Reg. No. UISPY2014) was admitted into the University in 2015/2016 academic session at 200 level and was withdrawn from the University at the end of 2016/2017 academic session due to poor academic performance.
The committee further established that the Statement of Result in question was not officially issued by ABU and that Shafa’atu Abdullahi was not presented to the NYSC Directorate for mobilization for the mandatory one-year national youth service.
Findings by the committee also showed that the copy of the NYSC Green Card/Data Card as presented by the petitioners as the profile of Shafa’atu Abdullahi was cloned and looked different from the real NYSC version in both presentation and design.
Therefore, the NYSC Directorate
categorically stated that Shafa’atu Abdullahi had not been mobilized and registered by the NYSC in the 2020 Batch ‘B’ service year.
The committee submitted its report to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, on 26th July. 2021.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to members of the committee for a thorough investigation” into the allegation.
