Meet Prof Jude Rabo: The New VC of Federal University Wukari
A distinguished Abusite and erudite Professor of Veterinary Medicine Prof Jude Rabo of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Wukari, Taraba State.
Prof Rabo emerged as the new vice-chancellor after scoring the highest points ahead of two other professors that contested the position
He took over from Prof Abubakar M. Kundiri, whose tenure has elapsed.
Who is Prof Jude Rabo?
Prof Jude Rabo was born on June 21th 1961 in Tadnum in Bogoro local government of Bauchi state.
He started his education at Tadnum Primary School from 1967-75. He attended Gindiri Boys Secondary School, Plateau State from 1975-80 for his secondary education and proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he studied from 1980-86 graduating with a bachelor of veterinary medicine.
He went on to attend the University of Ibadan, 1988-90; the University of Maiduguri, 1995-99 and the International Livestock Research Institute, Nairobi, Kenya, 2001.
Prof Jude Rabo started his academic career in 1987 as an Asst. Lecturer at the University of Maiduguri. Between 1987-90 to Lecturer II,1990-92; Lecturer1, 1992-95; Snr. Lecturer, 1995-98; Associate Professor, 1998-2001; and was promoted to a Full Professor, Department of Veterinary Pathology. University of Maiduguri in 2001.
He was head of the Diagnostic Unit (Pathology), Veterinary Teaching hospital, University of Maiduguri. between 1995-2005; Deputy Dean Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. University of Maiduguri. 1999-2002; head, Department of Veterinary Pathology, University of Maiduguri, 2002-05.
Prof Jude Rabo moved to University of agriculture makurdi where he served as head Veterinary Teaching Hospital; Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, etc
He is a Member of Several progressional bodies which include, Nigerian Veterinary; Medical Association; Veterinary Council of Nigeria; College of Veterinarian Surgeons; ‘Technical Associate, International Livestock Research Institute, Nairobi, Kenya.
He has won several awards; Prize Award for being the best final year student in Agricultural Science and Biology in Secondary School; Federal Government Post Graduate Scholarship Award, 1988-89; Fellowship Award/Study Leave, University Of Maiduguri, 1988-90; Technical Associate, International Livestock Research Institute, Nairobi, Kenya, Sponsored by Vienna, 2001; Elected Nominee, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for Annual Merit Award by the Federal Military Government.
