ABU unveil latest names of Engineering students heading to China
The management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has released the names of the latest set of successful candidates that will travel to China for the completion of their engineering degrees under the 3+2″ Railway Engineering program.
The engineering students who will proceed to the Central Southern University, Changsha, China will major in any of the following courses; 1: Transport Equip & Control Eng option; 2: Civil Eng option; 3: Traffic & Transportation.

The 3+2 Program is an excellent innovative formula aimed at fast-tracking the process of two engineering degrees from two distinguished universities in two different international languages according to Prof M. K. Othman.
The program target top class 300 level students of Mechanical and Civil Engineering Departments of ABU, Zaria.
The students of Civil Engineering would be awarded Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Eng) from ABU, Zaria, and Bachelor of Engineering (Railway Eng) from SCU, China after successful completion of the “3+2” program.
Similarly, students from the Mechanical Engineering Department would be awarded Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Eng) from ABU, Zaria, and Bachelor of Engineering (Equipment and Control Eng) from SCU, China after successful completion.
The program started in 2017 when ABU was picked out of seven Nigerian universities to begin as a pilot project a 3+2 joint degree program with China Central South University (CSU), Changsha, where China’s railway technology was first invented.
The “3+2” program was conceived essentially to address the urgent and pressing developmental need for efficient mass transportation in Nigeria and the rest of Africa –, particularly railway systems.
