Kogi 2019 Governorship: Meet the two Supercharged Abusites leading race

Kogi 2019: The great people of kogi state will be going to the polls in exactly 29days from now. Precisely November 16th, 2019 to elect a new governor that will pilot the affairs of the state for the next 4 years.

According to the official release by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, 23 candidates have been confirmed to represent various political parties in the election. They include, Aisha Abubakar Audu of YPP, Suleiman Mohammed Mikhail of ZLP, Shuaibu Sani Seidi of YDP, Abdulrazaq Baba Emeje of UDP, Ayodele Raymond Ajibola of PRP, Ibrahim Jubril Sheik of APGA, Justina Dolapo Abanida of ADC.

As usual, the list is dominated by Abusites. In fact, the two front runners in the poll, Incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello who is the candidate of the APC and Engr Musa Wada of the PDP are both Abusites.

Yahya Bello is a politician, businessman and distinguished Abusite who is the current Governor of Kogi State and Candidate of APC in the forthcoming Governorship Elections #kogi 2019. He became governor of the state after winning the 2015 Kogi gubernatorial election. He was chosen on the platform of the All Progressives Congress as the replacement for the late Abubakar Audu who originally won the election but died before the result was declared.

Bello was born June 18, 1975 in Okene, Kwara State, the youngest of six children. He attended LGEA Primary School, Agassa in Okene LGA beginning in 1984. He was named as a class prefect of class two and was made the school Head Boy in class six. He attended high school at Agassa Community Secondary School, Anyava, Agassa-Okene and obtained his JSSCE and SSCE certificates from Government Secondary School, Suleja-Niger State in 1994.

Bello studied at Kaduna State Polytechnic Zaria in 1995. He was admitted to Ahmadu Bello University Zaria to study accounting in 1996. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in 1999. Yahaya Bello further enrolled for a Masters program in Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria where he obtained Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2002. Bello became a chartered fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria in 2004.

Engr. Musa Wada, PhD, FNIS is an engineer, public servant and distinguished Abusite. He is the younger brother to the former Governor of the state, Capt Idris Wada and the candidate of the People’s Demoncratic Party, PDP in the forthcoming Governorship Elections #kogi 2019

He was born on the 17th of May into the family of Alh. Wada from Odu in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State. His mother Hajia Awawo hails from Idah Local Government Area of Kogi State. He attended LGEA Primary School, Okura-Olafia and Government Secondary School, Dekina before proceeding to the School of Basic Studies, SBS at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He had his first degree B.Sc in Building from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and his second degree M.Sc in Transport from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University). He has a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure and a doctorate degree (PhD) in Environmental Science from the University of Calabar, Nigeria.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping, Engr. Musa Wada is a Member of several professional bodies. They include the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Institute of Building, amongst others. He is an Officer of Igala Kingdom (OIK).

Engr. Musa Wada has been an Engineer all through his life. He has been with the Engineering Division of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and rose to become the Chief Port Engineer, Tin-Can Island Port between 2004 and 2007, where he was in charge of the general monitoring, overseeing and maintenance of the Tin-Can Island Port facilities and equipments. He was a Principal Manager, Capital Project of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Headquarters in Lagos.

He served as Port Manager, Calabar Port Between January 2013 and April 2015. He was posted to Onne Port Complex, Portharcourt in April 2015 where he served for five months. His next duty call was his appointment as the Managing Director, Seaview Properties Limited by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) management board. Seaview Properties Limited is a subsidiary of NPA.
