APPLY: IDRT ABU Diploma Admission Form for 2021/2022 Academic Session
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the undermentioned Diploma programs of the Institute for Development Research and training, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for the 2021/2022 academic session.
The forms are available online on the ABU portal at the cost of N2,500 (excluding bank charges) to be paid at all the participating banks as indicated online.
The Institute for Development Research and Training (IDRT) was established on July 1, 1998. It was established to undertake cutting-edge research into development issues and problems that confront Nigeria specifically.

1.Diploma in Mass Communication
Entry Requirements: 5 credits in WAEC/NECO SSCE/GCE papers including the following:
- Engish Language
- Economics or Commerce
- Government or History
- Hausa or English Literature
- IRK/CRK, Civic, or Geography
- Also, a minimum of Pass in Mathematics is required
- Duration: 4 semesters (2 Sessions)
- Fees: 58,500
2. Diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies
Entry Requirements: 5 credits at O Level including English, Government/History, and At least a Pass in Mathematics.
Duration: 4 semesters 2 sessions)
Fees: N55,500 per Session.
3. Diploma in Social Work and Development Studies
Entry Requirements: 5 credits at Olevel including English and At least a Pass in Mathematics.
Duration: 4 Semester (2 sessions)
Fees: 45,000 per session.
4. Diploma in Heritage Studies
Entry Requirements: 5 credits at Olevel including English and at Atleast a Pass in Mathematics.
Duration: 4 Semester (2 sessions)
Fees: 50,000 per session.
5. Diploma in Foreign Language and Diplomatic Studies.
Entry Requirements: Minimum of 5 Olevel Credit passes in humanities and Engish language) obtained in not more than two seatings including a foreign language.
Duration: 4 Semester (2 sessions)
Fees: 45,000 per session.
6. Diploma in glass technology
Entry Requirements: 5 credits in WAEC/NECO which must include a credit in English Language and Chemistry or Physics. Or A certificate in glass technology or a certificate in laboratory glass blowing from a recognized institution passed at merit level plus credit in English.
Duration: semesters 2 sessions)
Fees: N58,00 per session.
7. Diploma in the Arabic Language
Entry Requirement: A Minimum of 5 Credit OLevel Credit passes in humanities and Engish Language) obtained in not more than two seatings including Arabic Language.
Certificate in Arabic language from a recognized institution passed at merit level will be an added advantage.
Duration 4 semester (2 sessions)
Fees: N43,50 per session
8. Diploma in Fine Arts
Entry Requirement:
- A minimum of 5 credit passes from WAEC/NECO obtained in not more than two seatings which must include English as well as in any of Technical Drawing or Creative Arts
- A Grade ll Teachers Certificate with 4 credits including English language or
- GCE with passes at Credit level including English language.
- Duration: 4 Semesters (2 sessions)
- Fees: N50,000
9. Diploma in Industrial Design with Specialization in one of the following:
- Ceramics (N45.500 per session)
- Textile Science and Reproduction (58,500 per session)
- Textile Fashion Design (48,500 per session)
- Graphic Design & Illustration (N50,500 par session)
Duration: 4 Semesters (2 sessions)
Entry Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 credit passes from WAEC/NECO obtained in not more than two sittings which must include English language as well as Fine Arts or Technical Drawing or Creative Arts or Clothing and Textile OR
- A Grade II Teachers Certificate with 4 credit passes, including English OR
- G.C.E with 4 passes at Credit level, including Ergish OR
- Certificate in Ceramics or Graphics or Textile Design and Production or
- Textile Fashion Design from a recognized institution passed at merit level plus 4 relevant credit passes including English.
10. Diploma in Hausa Translation
Entry Requirement: Minimum of 5 Credits: OLevel Credit passes in humanities (and English Language) obtained in not more than two sitings including Hausa Language.
A Certificate in Hausa language from a recognized institution passed merit level will be an added advantage.
Duration: 4 Semester (2 sessions)
Fees: N55,500 per session
METHOD OF APPLICATION:
Aplications should be made on-line on payment of the prescribed application fee of 2,500.
Candidates are to visit the ABU Portal http://forms.abu.edu.ng/otherforms/ and generate Transaction ID with which they will proceed to the bank to pay before coming back to the portal to fill the form.
CLOSING DATE: Candidates are to apply no later than 30 Setember, 2021.
