The European Union (EU) has called for applications for next year’s Erasmus Mundus scholarship programme, in line with its commitment to expanding opportunities for quality higher education for young students.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) is a prestigious, integrated, international study programme, jointly delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions.

The Erasmus+ is the EU’s flagship programme for education, training, youth and sport, offering beneficiaries scholarships to study in some of the most prestigious universities within and outside Europe.

It also enables youths, students, staff, and higher education institutes to attend or work with European Higher Education Institutions.

Scholarship Details:

Building on the success of the programme in the period between 2014 to 2020, the Erasmus+ programme for 2021 to 2027 provides more opportunities for mobility and cooperation with partner countries beyond Europe, focusing on its qualitative impact and contributing to more inclusive and cohesive, greener, and digitally fit societies.

Furthermore, the program equips young students with the education, skills, and competencies they need to thrive in a globalized economy, hence, contributing to nation-building. The 2021-2027 program places a strong focus on social inclusion, the green and digital transitions, and promoting young people’s participation in democratic life.

Other benefits include improved career prospects, increased entrepreneurship capacities, boosted digital competences and foreign language etc.

Scholarship Duration and Reward

The programme offers full-time scholarships and/or fellowships that cover monthly allowance, participation costs, travelling and insurance costs of the students.  

Scholarship amounts can vary according to the level of studies, the duration of studies, and the scholar’s nationality (scholarships for non-EU students are higher than for EU students).

Required Documents

To apply, candidates must be ready to submit the following documents;

  • Application Form 
  • Degree Certificate .
  • Academic transcripts 
  • Research results: Published thesis, award certificates, etc. to prove their academic achievements and research capabilities.
  • A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English, a minimum of 800 words for master applicants and 1500 words for PhD applicants).
  • Recommendation Letters

Deadline varies depending on the programme but falls around December to January.
