The management of Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Zaria has implemented new fees for all surgical operations in the Hospital.
This comes after the ABUTH Board approved an upward review of surgical operation fee charges and the introduction of a new consultation fee.
The Board of Management had at its 101st regular meeting held from 3rd and 4th September, 2020 deliberated on a proposal for an upward review of hospital fee charges.
The proposal followed the rising inflationary trend in the nation’s economy which negatively affected the provision of the required consumables for surgical operations.
Arising from the foregoing, the Board approved an upward review of surgical operation fee charges and the introduction of consultation fee as below:
1. Cardiothoracic Surgery – N140,000
2. Super Major Surgery – N100,000
3. Major Surgery. – N80,000
4. Moderate Surgery – N50,000
5. Minor Surgery – N25,000
6. Consultation fee (for Specialist Clinic only) – N500 per patient.
The approval for the upward review of the above charges takes immediate effect.
The Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), located at Shika Road, Zaria, Kaduna State, is the first and leading federal Teaching Hospital in the northern region of Nigeria and has served as a training ground for young medical doctors and other specialists.
Established as Institute of Health in 1968, and transformed into Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in accordance with statute 15 of the University Law (Amendment Act Schedule 16) by the former northern Nigeria government, ABUTH’s primary objective is the provision of facilities for training of doctors, nursing and other medical personnel.
