Abubakar Sani Abdullahi: The Departmental President Of The Year
Comrade Abubakar Sani Abdullahi is the President of the Society of Glass and Silicate Technology Students (SOGSTECHS) 2019/2020 Session who happened to be the longest-serving president in the history of the association.
He is an entrepreneur, a politician, a hard-working, innovative, thoughtful, charismatic, open-minded humanitarian and youths’ advocate, passionate about well being of less privileged and other disadvantaged people.
He is also a wholehearted and unequivocal supporter of young people who uses strategic advocacy to improve their inclusion and participation especially in governance, peace, economy, and national development.

Abubakar, who just graduated from the Department of Glass and Silicate Technology, faculty of Environmental Design, is popularly known for his leadership and Innovative skill within the Faculty and diaspora. He promoted the image of the association, his Department, and the faculty at large.
In August 2021, he designed a Glass Portrait of Ahmadu Bello (Sardauna of Sokoto) which was launched during an exhibition program organized by the Faculty Representative 2019/2020 session. The Glass Portrait of Ahmadu Bello is classified among the most expensive portraits ever designed in the University.
During his time as the President, he singles handedly taught almost 200 Students his skill on Cold Glass Working.
Abubakar Sani Abdullahi led his students at the Inter-Departmental Debate organized by EDSA-SRA where they emerged winners and returned with the first award for the Department.
He organized a series of events that were the first in the history of the association such as ALUMNI’S RETURN 2021, and SOGSTECHS Cultural Carnival where he was coronated as the First King of Glass and Silicate Technology Students.
During his time as the President, he was at the same time the Speaker, Students Representative Assembly GISA-SRA, The National Secretary-General, Arms of Comfort Organization, The Chairman Youth Federation of Nigeria (YFN), Kaduna State Chapter, and also The Chairman Voice of Nigerian Students, VONS, Kaduna State Chapter.
He is the first student as an undergraduate, to have 3 professional bodies membership (Ceramics Researchers Association of Nigeria CeRAN, Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria MSN, and Polymer Institute of Nigeria PIN).
During his time as a 200L student at his Department, he Chaired the Editorial Committee under the then leadership of Comrade Isa Aliyu Abubakar, where he and his committee published the first edition of the magazine to the association with the title “De Vitreux”.
In the same year, he won the award of Icon of Selfless Service by the Society of Glass and Silicate Technology Students SOGSTECHS 2017/2018 session.
Abubakar served in many associations including Kaduna State Students Union, KADSSU as the senator representing the faculty of Environmental Design.
He received a series of awards, certificates, and medals including the Most Outstanding Youth of the Year during the International Youth Day and Leadership Summit and Departmental President of the Year by Environmental Design Students Association EDSA.
He published a series of articles in many magazines on Youth, leadership, and Entrepreneurship.
Abubakar Sani Abdullahi graduated among the class of 2020 and handed over the leadership affairs of Society of Glass and Silicate Technology Students SOGSTECHS to the newly elected exco on 11th November 2021.
