Eligible for ABU Post UTME Exams.

Every year the Ahmadu Bello University management usually announces criteria for candidates who are eligible to participate in the ABU post utme exams. Generally, the criteria have always been the same with very little changes. Below are some of the General criteria for ABU post UTME Exams:

  • Candidates who scored 180 and above in UTME for all courses.
  • Candidates must have chosen Ahmadu Bello University as first choice.

How to Apply for ABU Post UTME Form.

The management usually announced a date for the commencement and closure of Registration for the ABU post utme screening exercise. The exercise commenced on Monday 29th July 2019 and closed on Saturday, 24th August 2019 for the 2019/2020 academic session. No date yet for the 2020/2021 academic session.

ABU has a permanent portal for Post utme and Admission processes. In other to participate in the ABU post utme exercise, candidates are required to register on the portal.

To register, candidates are required to log into https://putme.abu.edu.ng or click on the 2019/2020 Post-UTME Registration on the Ahmadu Bello University website https://abu.edu.ng.

Applicants are required to pay a certain amount of money usually Two Thousand Naira (N2000.00) only as ABU post utme screening fee.

Payment can either be made via Remita using any acceptable debit card (Visa, verve and Master Card) OR by printing the Remita retrieval Reference (RRR) slip and proceed to any commercial Bank. Candidates need not travel to Zaria to make payment.

ABU post UTME Candidates should report to the venue of screening indicated on their Post-UTME slip at least one hour before the scheduled time.

Any candidate who fails to appear for the ABU Post utme screening exercise on the dates indicated will not be considered for admission into the university during the academic session.

On the day of screening, UTME candidates must come along with the print-out of their schedule slips with the uploaded passport photograph and a printout of the UTME result which must be submitted on the day of the screening.

ABU Post UTME Exams Rules

  • GSM Phones and other electronic devices are not allowed into the venue
  • Parents, Guardians and uninvited Law enforcement agents will not be allowed into the venue

What Is The Nature of ABU Zaria Post UTME?

The ABU Post Utme as a method of screening started in Nigeria since 2002. In 2003, ABU successfully conducted its first Post Utme screening exercise. Currently, the screening exercise is a computer-based test and it’s written only within the school premises.

Candidates are assigned halls and seat numbers on different days to accommodate all. Also, the subjects you write on your day are auto-generated from the four subjects you wrote in JAMB.

By implication, a medical student is expected to write English, mathematics, biology, and chemistry while a student applying to the Law faculty will write English, Government, Literature -in -English and any religion subjects. (Christian Religious Studies or Islamic studies).

The ABU post UTME is a CBT examination. The yearly timing and number of questions are not static as it changes always. Last year, it was 70 questions to 70 minutes. Sometimes, the questions maybe 60 and you’ll be given 60 minutes. I can’t say for sure how many questions and minutes you’ll be given this year. If you must finish, then, you must not spend more than one minute on each question.

ABU post UTME screening is concluded and results have been successfully uploaded on the portal, Participants can check the university’s admission portal or website for their post UTME score. Follow the simple steps below to access your ABU post UTME exams score:

  2. Supply your JAMB registration number in the required column.
  3. Select your state of origin.

ARE WE GOING FOR THE SCREENING WITH OUR O’LEVEL RESULT?

No! The only item required of you is your schedule slip. The schedule slip will contain your personal details and your ABU Zaria Post UTME venue and time.

You’ll be able to print out the PUTME slip after you’ve paid the N2,000 PUTME fee and registered at any good càfe. That’s the only document you need to go with. Unless you want to stay in Zaria till the release of the admissions, you can go with all your credentials.

CAN I SIT FOR THE ABU Zaria POST UTME IN MY AREA?

No! The only centers for the ABU Zaria Post UTME are in Samaru Campus, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. They include Iya Abubakar ICT Center, New Lecture Hall 1, New Lecture Hall 2, etc. Your venue and exam time will be indicated on your schedule slip.

WHERE WILL I STAY IF I COME FOR THE PUTME?

You can Stay with anyone you know on campus or off campus. If you don’t know anyone, you should start looking for someone that will accommodate you now. The Muslims can go to any mosque and book a space as that will be provided for by the MSSN.

The Christians can do the same in churches on campus. As for the ladies, you don’t need to worry much because Accommodation will be provided for you at Suleiman Hall, the largest hostel in West Africa. If you still know someone close to you, it’ll be better to stay with the person though.

WHEN WILL THE ADMISSION LIST BE RELEASED?

ABU only releases admission, in which you’ll log on to the portal and insert your registration number to see if you’ve been admitted or not, not an admission list that will be circulated all over the internet.

In 2017, the first batch was released on 7th December. In 2018, it was released on January 1st. In 2019, the first batch was released around November/December.

ARE THE ABU ZARIA POST UTME PAST QUESTIONS IN CIRCULATION REAL?

The supposed ABU post UTME past questions are 99% fake. ABU does not disclose her past questions to anyone. When you come for the PUTME, you’ll see some folks selling the so-called past questions for N1,000 or more around the main gate in Samaru. Don’t waste your money on it.

DO I NEED TO UPLOAD MY O’LEVEL RESULT AGAIN EVEN THOUGH I DID THAT DURING JAMB REGISTRATION?

It’s necessary. It may be possible it wasn’t successfully uploaded during your UTME registration. You can do that after the PUTME. Advisably, do it after the release of the PUTME results.

WHAT HOPE FOR THE AWAITING RESULT CANDIDATES?

You don’t have to bother yourself with that at all. You can register for the ABU post UTME as an awaiting-result candidate and upload the result to the portal after it might have been released.

WHAT IS ABU CUT-OFF MARK FOR MY COURSE?

Unlike other universities, ABU Zaria has no fixed departmental cut-off mark. 180 and above is the cut-off point for ALL courses. Don’t depend on that because there will be people who will score 250, 290, 315, etc. The format in ABU is the higher your score, the higher your chances.

WHAT SUBJECTS WILL I WRITE IN THE ABU POST UTME?

You can’t register for any subject. You will be writing the same subject combination you wrote in your JAMB. Just consider the ABU Post UTME as a part 2 version of JAMB.
