ABU VC visits TETFUND, NUC, NHIS, REA, NNRA to seek collaborations [photos]
As part of his efforts in seeking collaboration and consciously cultivating the goodwill and support of ABU stakeholders for his new administration, the vice-chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Kabir Bala, during the week, paid a working visit to several heads of government agencies and ministries across the country.
Those visited include the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Prof Suleiman Elias Bagoro; Minister of State for Education, Hon Chuckwemeka Nwajuiba; Managing Director Rural Electrification Agency, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad; Prof. Mohammed Nasir Sambo Executive Secretary/ CEO, NHIS; The Director-General Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Dr. Ya’u Usman and the Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof Abubakar Adamu Rasheed.
Speaking at the office of the Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Prof Suleiman Bagoro in Abuja, the Vice-Chancellor disclosed that plans are afoot by the institution to establish a center of excellence for cancer studies.

In his remarks, the TETFUND Executive Secretary thanked the ABU Vice Chancellor for the visit and pledged to assist the University in this regard.
At the federal ministry of Education, the Minister of State for Education, Hon Chuckwemeka Nwajuiba described Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, as the flagship of tertiary education in Nigeria given its academic excellence.
The Minister thanks the ABU vice chancellor for the visit and promise to support and work closely with him in all areas of interest.
The Vice-Chancellor was also at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) in Abuja, where he met with the Managing Director of the Agency, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad to seek his support and partnership in overcoming the challenge of power in the institution.
The Managing Director pledged his Agency’s determination and full support to help the University overcome its electricity problem.
The Vice-Chancellor also visited the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority as part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of ABU Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT) to perform maximally for the betterment of the country.
Receiving the vice-chancellor, The Director-General of the organization, Dr. Ya’u Usman Idris, who is also an Abusite, thanked the VC and his entourage for the visit and promise that the collaboration between the University and the country’s nuclear regulatory body would yield the desired results.
The Vice-Chancellor was also at the headquarters of the National Universities Commission (NUC) Abuja along with his entourage where they met with the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, who described the university as one of the most strategic institutions in Africa.
Prof Kabiru Bala also paid a courtesy call on Prof. Mohammed Nasir Sambo Executive Secretary/ CEO, NHIS today in Abuja, were the two discussed areas of mutual interest and partnerships. The Executive Secretary said Prof Bala has the needed experience to handle the University.
The Vice-Chancellor and his team were also at The Federal Medical Centre, Abuja where the management received them warmly. The Medical Director of the Centre, Prof Saad A Ahmed, who was visibly elated for the visit, took the VC and his entourage around the medical facility.
