100L ABU STUDENT WINS 2021 NATIONAL HIASFEST STAR PRIZE

A 100 level Student of the department of English and Literary Studies, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Mujahid Ameen Lilo, has won The National Hiasfest Star Prize For Nigerian Teen Authors 2021.

According to a statement signed by BM Dzukogi, Mujahid was selected based on his steady growth in creative writing and his tremendous visibility as a teen author in many literary fora, journals, magazine, newspapers, radio and television stations in Nigeria, as well as being a published teenager who has won prizes at such a tender age.

Nigeria.

“You are to receive the award at the finals of the 2021 edition of the Hadiza Ibrahim Aliyu Schools Festival (HIASFEST) scheduled to hold from 20th to 23rd January 2021 at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference
Centre, Minna, Niger State.”

Mujahid Ameen is to be presented with the award is on the 23rd of January, 2021.

The Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation which is the premier institution for teen arts in Nigeria further thanked lilo for his inspirational tendencies to many teen authors in Nigeria and said “the acceptance he has gained with established writers is a sustaining element for the Nigerian literature which creates a direct and indirect development of writing among teenagers in the country.”

Mujahid Ameen Lilo, a Nigerian teen author, studies English and Literature at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

His works have appeared in The Lagos Review, The Nigeria Review, Daily Trust, Blueprint, Praxis, and others. He was Artist of the Month with Yasmin Elrufai Foundation, September 2019. Lilo was the Arts Editor of Daily Chronicle.

He participated in the Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange Program and UI Poetry Masterclass 2019. He was shortlisted for The Nigeria Prize for Teen Authors, longlisted for the Aminiya Trust Hausa Short Story Competition 2020, won The Wole Soyinka Essay Competition, and the BUK Creative Writers’ Poetry Contest.

Mujahid was a panelist at Lagos Book and Art Festival 2020 and PIN 5th Anniversary.
