ABU mourn Dr. MD Ahmed, A former HOD Architecture Dept.
The Department of Architecture ABU Zaria and the entire university community is still mourning the loss yesterday of a loving lecturer, Arc Dr. MD Ahmed.
Dr. MD Ahmed until his death was a senior lecturer and former Head of the Department of Architecture, ABU Zaria (2012-2016). He was buried yesterday at Zangon Shanu, Samaru Zaria.
Several of his students, colleagues, and friends have paid tribute to the departed lecturer who is described by many as a caring personality and mentor.
MASOYIN DAMAT: I got a hint about his demise from the post of Muhammad Malumfashi where he was narrating how his father lost a dear one Baba MD, actually, it came to my mind, could it be my own Dr. MD Ahmed? But frankly ban kawo Masa mutuwa ba, so I just commented Allah Ya Gafarta Masa.
I was shocked to see his picture on the status of a colleague announcing his demise, “InnalillaHi wa Inna ILAIHI Rajiun, my mentor is gone was my reply to him”.
I could remember my first encounter with Dr. MD Ahmed sometimes in 2008 when late Dr. Musa Tukur of Faculty of Education asked me to submit my Post UTME details to him for consideration for admission and that was it, he assured me it’s done for I actually qualified and the request is from someone he can not turn down.

Our relationship became stronger when Arc. Dr. J J Maina gave me a note to him so that he supervise my B.Sc. project, he gladly accepted and gave me time, opened a file with him, we then exchanged contacts and the journey continued, from being a B.Sc student he also refers some senior students to me for some details about the Architecture of Zaria, Dr. MD Ahmed knows a lot on Architecture.
He has left a vacuum that will take type to fill. He was so simple, jovial, inspiring, and encouraging.
My Sincere Condolences to his Family, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Environment Design, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, The Nigerian Institute of Architects, The Nigerian Society of Urban Design, and the entire members of the building industry.

PROF. MAS’UD ABDULKARIM: Dr. MD Ahmed was my classmate, 1978-1983. We presented our Final Theses to the same External Examiner in 1983 where he graduated with a Distinction. We were colleagues as staff of the Department of Architecture, ABU, 1984-2020.
He was the Head of Department, 2012-2016. It was a great loss to the Department and the entire Architecture family. May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and give us the fortitude to bear the loss, Ameen.
